Microsoft Word 2007 An Intermediate Guide | The aim of this document is to teach you how to get the most out of Microsoft Word for everyday tasks. In particular, it shows you the best way to write something like an essay. It should bring undergraduates up to a level sufficient for their studies. This document assumes that you are familiar with the layout of Word 2007 and can use the Ribbon and its buttons, which are covered in the document Microsoft Word: An Essential Guide. It also assumes you know about saving and printing your work. These topics are covered in A Quick Guide to Saving Files and A Quick Guide to Printing, respectively.
To start Microsoft Word: 1. Open the Windows Start menu, choose All Programs then Microsoft Office and finally Microsoft Office Word 2007 Tip: You can place a copy of the Microsoft Word icon on the Desktop, giving you easy access in future. To do this, repeat step 1 as above but right click on Microsoft Office Word 2007 and choose Send To followed by Desktop (create shortcut). To load Word in future, simple double click on the desktop icon. In fact you can do this with files you are currently working on too (use the same procedure but in Windows Explorer). You can then double click on the desktop shortcut to load up Word and your file. When you’ve finished working on it, <Delete> the shortcut – the file to which it refers is NOT deleted. A new document will open, ready for you to begin typing your work. You could now open an existing file but, for this course, work on the empty document. WARNING: Avoid opening files directly from a floppy disk, USB pen or similar media – first copy them to My Documents and then open them from there. Copy back to your media after editing.
Office 2007 saves files in a completely new format (technically known as 16-bit instead of 8-bit). This new format will allow many new features to be developed in future versions of the software. Some are already included in Word 2007 – there’s a new equation editor, for example. The PCs in the facilities managed by IT Services save in the new format, but users can choose to save in the old format if they so wish. Note that anyone who is running Word 2003 can still open a Word 2007 format document, but they must first install a special converter (which is freely downloadable from the Microsoft web site). Any features which are new to Word 2007 are dealt with as best as they can – equations, for example, appear as pictures and can’t be edited. The simplest way to preserve compatibility is to save your new document in the old 2003 format. To do this: 1. Click on the [Office Button] and choose Save As then Word 97-2003 Document You would now continue to give your file a name and save it, but here: 2. Press <Esc> or click on [Cancel] To save in the new format 1. Click on the [Office Button] and choose Save (or click on the [Save] button on the Quick Access Toolbar or simply press <Ctrl s>) 2. Give your file a name (eg type testdoc) then press <Enter> for [Save] Note that your file has the new file extension of .docx. Files in Word 2003 format have the extension .doc. Similarly, Word templates have the extension .dotm instead of .dot. Download Microsoft Word 2007 An Intermediate Guide here
How to Prepare Spaghetti Squash | To Bake: Preheat oven to 350º Cut the squash in half lengthwise. (It is difficult to cut.) Remove the seeds and place cut side down on a baking sheet. Bake for 45 minutes. Use a fork to pull the strands out. Toss with your favorite pasta sauce, parmesan cheese, or Italian
To Microwave: Cut the squash in half lengthwise and remove the seeds. Place cut side down on a microwave safe dish with ½ cup of water. Cover with a lid or plastic wrap and cook on high for 8-12 minutes. Remove the strands with a fork.
To Boil: In a pot large enough to hold the whole squash, bring water to a boil Drop the squash in and let it cook for 20-30 minutes. It is done when a fork easily pierces the skin and goes into the flesh.
In a Crock Pot: Pierce the skin of the squash several times. Place the whole squash in the crock pot and add two cups of water. Cook on low 8-9 hours. Download How to Prepare Spaghetti Squash here
How to Solve the Rubik’s Cube | A letter by itself (e.g. F) means turn that face 90 degrees clockwise with respect to the center of the cube. A letter with an apostrophe (F’) denotes a 90 degree counter-clockwise turn. A letter followed by the number 2 (F2) denotes 2 turns, i.e. a 180 degree turn.
Part 1: First Layer Edges Your first objective is to solve the four white edges, building a cross on your first layer as shown below. Note that each white edge piece has another color sticker on it. When the white cross is completed, this other color has to match the center piece it’s adjacent to. Once you have finished the cross, keep the white cross on the bottom face for the rest of your solve.
Part 2: First Layer Corners Your next step is to complete the first layer by filling in the corners. Locate a corner piece that has a white sticker on it. There are four of them, and they can be found on the top layer or bottom layer. If the corner piece is on the top layer, rotate U until it is directly above where it needs to go. Hold the cube so that this corner is at the UFR position. Now check the position of the white sticker. You have three possible cases: If the white corner piece is on the bottom layer, replace it with different corner piece from the top layer. The white corner piece will then be in the top layer and you can now deal with it using one of the cases indicated above. Once you have done this with all four corners, you should be done with the first layer.
Part 3: Middle Layer Edges Notice that the middle layer consists of just four edge pieces that need to be solved. An easy way to identify a middle layer edge is to look for edge pieces that have no yellow stickers on it. If the middle layer edge is on the top layer, rotate U until it’s matched with an adjacent center sticker. Hold the cube so that its target position (where you want to place that edge) is at the FR position. You have two possible cases: Download How to Solve the Rubik’s Cube here
How To Make Your Hair Grow Faster And Longer | In case you are one of the many millions of women all over the globe who until now face the challenge of not knowing how to make your hair grow faster and longer, then you have come to the right article. Read on and you will find some helpful tips you can use to once and for all address your hair thinning malady:
1. Stop wishing and start searching for the answer. First of all; stop wishing for longer mane; instead, find the solutions to your problem. If you think the rate by which your mane grows is too sluggish to your liking, then explore on the best ways by which you can finally put a stop to it and once and for all grow your hair the length you have always wanted.
2. Investigate on your diet. Take note that to be healthy outside would require that you be in the pink from within. That is why it is often said that if a woman would want to have healthy, strong and beautiful hair, she should make it a point to always cleanse her system by gulping down abundant glasses of water – that would have to be of course, 8 glasses at minimum. Avoid eating junk foods as they can only aggravate the presence of toxins in your body and which could be manifested by dryness and dullness of your mane.
3. Determine what dietary supplements or vitamins you need to take. Most women would require daily vitamin intake to pull alongside the hustles and bustles of everyday life. Since stress is known to be a great factor for causing damage in hair and therefore monotony in how you look, make it a point that you incorporate a well-balanced diet in your daily sustenance. Look for Magnesium, Biotin, Zinc, Vitamin B6, Para-amino Benzoic acids and the essential fatty acids Omega 3 in fatty fishes and fish oil. Download How To Make Your Hair Grow Faster And Longer here

Questionnaire and Form Design Using Microsoft Word 2007 | Introduction This practical will introduce you to producing tables and designing a form using the application Microsoft Word. What you will learn By the end of the practical you should be able to: • Create and modify a table • Create a form and set out a form within a table • Use frames to set out form fields • Add help text to form fields • Use AutoText Entry to insert commonly used text in a form • Use table AutoFormat to modify how a table displays • Import data from a form to a spreadsheet • Password protect form fields • Use Visual Basic to create a macro for exclusive check boxes Approximate time The practical should take approximately 2.5 hours to complete.
Tables and Form Design Using Microsoft Word – Practical 1 This practical shows how to create a basic form in Word. The form is a company memo which allows the user to select the name of the person the memo will be sent to, who it is from and the date sent. The sender can tick an urgent box if necessary and select which department the sender is based in. The memo uses text, check box and drop down form fields. Open the Word application. If the Developer tab is not shown across the top of the window:
Word 2007 offers three types of form tools: 1. Legacy form tools: were also available in Word 2003. These form tools can be used to collect data from forms and save into a text file. Data from the text file can then be imported into a spreadsheet. 2. Content control tools: These tools do not collect data as in the example above but may be useful. 3. ActiveX Controls: These tools are limited for most Word users and require programming skills to use properly. Data can be recorded from responses to questions but ActiveX controls cannot be used to print data only or save as text file. To add the Legacy forms tools to the Quick Access toolbar, select the Developer tab and click on the Legacy tools downward arrow, then right click on any of the tools and select Add Gallery to Quick Access Toolbar.

Matrices and Matrix Operations in Matlab | Here both A and B are 2 × 2 matrices. Matrices can be multiplied together in this way provided that the number of columns of A match the number of rows of B. We always list the size of a matrix by rows, then columns, so a 3 × 5 matrix would have 3 rows and 5 columns. So, if A is m × n and B is p × q, then we can multiply AB if and only if n = p. A column vector can be thought of as a p×1 matrix and a row vector as a 1×q matrix. Unless otherwise specified we will assume a vector v to be a column vector and so Av makes sense as long as the number of columns of A matches the number of entries in v.
For a vector, the “norm” means the same thing as the length. Another way to think of it is how far the vector is from being the zero vector. We want to measure a matrix in much the same way and the norm is such a quantity. The usual definition of the norm of a matrix is the following:
The maximum in the definition is taken over all vectors with length 1 (unit vectors), so the definition means the largest factor that the matrix stretches (or shrinks) a unit vector. This definition seems cumbersome at first, but it turns out to be the best one. For example, with this definition we have the following inequality for any vector v:
An Introduction To Matrix Manipulation In Matlab | The power that MATLAB brings to digital image processing is the extensive set of functions that are available in MATLAB for processing multidimensional arrays, of which matrices (twodimensional numerical arrays) have a onetoone correspondence with digital images. In this brief tutorial we discuss and illustrate a number of ways used to manipulate matrices. Usually, this is the ®rst step in learning how to apply MATLAB tools to imageprocessing applications.
Matrices in MATLAB can be represented by any symbol or string of symbols, such as A, a, MAT, RGB, real_mat, and so on. For the most part, we will use uppercase italic notation for matrices (e.g., A, B), and lowercase italics for scalar variables, (e.g., a, b, c) when writing equations or using these symbols in a line of text. When writing a command line, we will use monospaced characters, and make use of the prompt |>>} at the beginning of a line, which is the way the reader would see it the screen in the MATLAB workspace. For example, the addition of two matrices will be represented in the form A = B + C in a line of text, and by >> A = B + C;
when referring to a command line, where the semicolon at the end of a line is MATLABzs standard symbol for suppressing output. If the semicolon is not present at the end of a command line, MATLAB outputs the contents of the operation. In the preceding line, this means that the contents of A would be output on the screen if the semicolon were omitted. We also use monospace notation for the names of MATLAB functions, such as read, write, plot, and so on. When a matrix speci®cally refers to an image, we will use symbols such as f and g, in an attempt to be as consistent as possible with the notation used in the book Digital Image Processing.
